Using correct grammar and correct English is vital to your success as an Affiliate Marketer. And let’s face it, I barely passed my High School and College courses in English and grammar. I was far better at math and science. I think it’s a left brain – right brain kind of thing.
I see get a lot of feedback requests from other online marketers and see some really atrocious writing. So I thought this topic deserved a place among my Affiliate Resources list. Let’s discuss some of the reasons why having an effective proofreading tool is important to your success as an affiliate marketer.

Using Proper English
When comes to your online content within your niche website(s) your users pay attention to your writing style and your use of the English and grammar. Knowing the difference between words like “to” and “too” or “affect” and “effect” can mean the difference between a reader staying on your page and clicking away.
Proper English not only affects the way your readers look at your website, but also the readability of your content and the amount of trust they place in you. If your content is difficult to understand due to your use of English and grammar, you’re not likely to get your point across or keep them on your page for long.
My father, who is now in his 80s, has gotten into the habit of writing his email as one big run-on sentence. It literally takes me two or three times as long to read his emails and understand what he’s talking about. It’s extremely difficult to tell where one thought ends and another begins. Can you imagine clicking onto a website that was written in such a fashion? I’m not saying a lot of people write this way, it’s just a good example of how your writing style affects your content readability.
Professional Looking Content
Using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation also gives your content a very professional look. And a website that looks professional will gain more reader trust.
This is not just true of your website content, but also the way in which you connect with your readers through comments on your website or email campaigns.
Communication is your connection to your readers, and if you come across as unprofessional because of poor grammar or spelling, your again not likely to keep their interest in what you have to say.
So you can begin to see how effective communication affects your bottom line. And the bottom line is whether you make a sale or not, or gain an online subscriber or not.
The Relevance of Good Grammar
As affiliate marketers, we are likely to be writing about many different topics, often on a daily basis. Good grammar is relevant to every topic and every niche.
If you are writing a technical manual, for example, bad grammar can mean the difference between properly instructing someone on a topic, and failing miserably. Knowing where to put commas and how to use the right words in the right places will make your content more readable, and understandable.
Good grammar means credibility, especially with Affiliate Marketing. Words are all you have to offer and if you can’t tell the difference between “there”, “their”, and “they’re”, you’re not likely to gain credibility with your readers.
Proofreading Tools
This is where a good proofreading tool comes to the rescue. If you’re like me, I can read my content over and over again and still fail to find missing words, and bad punctuation. Spell checkers are pretty common and built into many writing platforms. But finding your grammar mistakes, and mistakes in punctuation becomes a bit more difficult.
So for my writing and proofreading, I use the Grammarly Online Checker. It has a free version that includes a web browser plug-in as well as Windows applications add-ons.
Grammarly free version not only checks your spelling but also your use of grammar and punctuation. I find the free version acceptable for me, however, their premium version offers a lot more.
Their premium version will help fix:
- Inconsistent writing style
- Sentence structure
- Overused words
- Ineffective vocabulary
- Wordiness
- Impoliteness
- Insensitive language
- Inappropriate tone
- Plagiarism
And for just about $12 a month, you can’t beat it.
Conclusion

hello Michael
A very good post; I have problems writing because I do not know English; translate on line, use Grammarly, hamingwai, WA verification. I think it’s not enough, but many do not think I can do it; what do you think, can I do something extra? Still, I have some visitors. I’m thinking that not everybody masters English perfectly (I mean readers).
Hi Carmen,
You’re right, no one is perfect, especially me. My writing would be horrible without tools like Grammarly, and I speak English. I think that you will do fine. One good thing is that as you use tools like Grammarly you end up learning more and your English becomes better as a result. But, yes I think you will do just fine.
Stop by anytime and let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

I absolutely love Grammarly. It corrects all my mistakes before publishing a post. It makes me sound more professional and not how I just pulled this idea out from nowhere by the way my Grammar is bad.
Anyone can learn to be a great writer with Grammarly. Its a great platform.
Thank you for the article and for covering this topic.
All the best,
Aabidah
Thanks, Aabidah,
I’m glad you are enjoying the benefits of Grammarly.
Michael
I agree that good English is a tool for an affiliate marketer because bad grammar or spelling can put someone off, it can even mislead someone, give them the wrong idea. It is better to check your content and make sure that it is easy to read and it means exactly what you intended.
I have been using Grammarly the free version and so far it helped me a lot, I hope to upgrade soon and get the fool benefits of this great software.
Thanks
Hi,
