Do you dread getting up every day because you hate your job? Do you come home stressed out and irritable? You aren’t alone. There are millions of people facing the same problem. I was one of them as well.
I would suggest that there is a way out of this. What I would like to do is propose some ideas for career change and how this can be accomplished. Get back on the enjoyable path to the future.
How We Arrived Where We Are?
Most of us launched our careers with big dreams and ambitions. Some us invested years of college, others invested years of OJT (On the job experience). For me, I loved computers. I was hooked after learning to program a Radio Shack TRS-80.
I absolutely loved college and my early jobs working on electronics and programming. As my career evolved I learn very quickly that if I was going to make any decent money I was going to have to get into management.
So I worked myself up into management, eventually working as an IT manager for a large telecommunications’ company. It was great at first. Lots of projects, traveling, and so on. However, as companies started outsourcing IT, it started to become a really big nightmare.
Different circumstances, decisions, and changing work environments eventually lead us to where we are today. Many times it’s out of our control, like big business outsourcing. We may end up stuck or unemployed.
The moral of the story is that we can’t see the future and we can’t always control the direction our careers take. The aspects of our careers we loved when we first started may evolve such that we no longer enjoy our careers. But, one thing we can do is learn from our experiences and apply our wisdom going forward.
Where Do You Want To Be In The Future?
Before taking a trip of any sort we usually start with a destination in mind. The same applies to our journey through life and our career paths.
It’s important to look at where we want to be 10, 20, or 30 more years down the road. Do you want to be financially secure 20 years from now? Do you want to be able to travel the world and enjoy your senior years? These are common goals and we need to make sure we plot a course that will get us there.
Changing careers mid-stream may seem like you’re throwing a monkey wrench in the works and forcing you to take a detour to your future goals, but you can also look at it like you’re taking the expressway to your destination instead of the detour.
As we plan out our route to the future we desire we need plan on getting there the fastest way possible. This means planning our career change such that it aligns with where we are going. That financially secure future and retirement full of adventure and happiness.
This will help us hone in our ideas for career change to things that we can see ourselves enjoying in the future and ideas that will fill our financial needs as well.
Choosing A New Path – Ideas For Career Change
Making a career change can be scary and it requires taking a risk. Risk doesn’t have to be something to fear, but an exciting part of the journey.
Some ideas for career change include:
- A total change in careers. Going back to college for something new and exciting. You can take college courses online these days or go to night school if you’re still working your old job.
- A lateral move. Many times your career field has opportunities for a lateral move. For example, if you are a legal secretary you may be able to make a lateral move to a new position as a paralegal with some additional schooling. Many times businesses offer assistance for additional education.
- Pursue a dream. Start your own business doing something you love. This is becoming more and more common, especially with the opportunities on the internet these days.
- Start an internet business.
Don’t be afraid to pursue your dreams. Everything business out there started as someone’s dream. Look at Amazon, Walmart, eBay, or any number of other businesses. Everything starts as a dream, a mere thought that grows from a seed until it starts to blossom and comes to fruition.
I think it’s important to face your career change with an open mind. Be willing to consider things you hadn’t thought of before. If you’ve been in your current career for some length of time, you’ve probably noticed that global business and economics are changing at a rapid pace. Think smart and look at all the new opportunities.
People who’ve spent years in college preparing for a career are finding themselves taking jobs that are totally out of their field of expertise. Why, because there is no longer demand for the types of jobs they’ve training for. They’ve been taken over by automation or phased out.
There is a massive move to internet purchasing underway and many businesses who have not positioned themselves for this are now going under. You’ve got to change with the times or be left behind.
Taking Advantage Of The Current Economic Climate
Is it possible to take advantage of the current economic climate? Absolutely!
In 2018, customers spent over $517 Billion in online purchasing with United States merchants alone. That’s a half a trillion dollars! And it’s increasing at a steady rate year over year.
What does this mean to people like you and me? It means there is tremendous opportunity online. Think about it, how many online purchases have you made this year alone? How many times have you searched for something online that you needed help with? More than likely, someone like yourself helped you with something that you purchased online through their website. And guess what? They earned a commission from your purchase without it costing you a dime.
We have moved into an age where tremendous wealth is being created online. And you can take advantage of this through Affiliate Marketing. Affiliate Marketing is basically selling a product online through an affiliate link provided by the product seller. When the customer buys through your link, you make money. There’s no inventory to worry about, no refunds to worry about, no employees to worry about. You simply lead the buyer to what they already want.
Imagine owning your own online business. Freedom to work when and where you want. Anywhere in the world where there’s an internet connection! The best part is you are building passive income. You’ll make money while your sleeping, on vacation, or just relaxing on your couch. You can scale it to any level to meet your income needs.
Affiliate Marketing gives you the means to create the life that you want. Most of all, when you do it right, you are helping people. What better feeling is there than to know that what you are doing is helping people. Maybe you’re helping them eat healthily, lose weight, or maybe find that perfect date. You can literally start a business around just about anything.
Start a business around something you are passionate about!
Don’t have enough time or money?
No problem. You don’t need to have any special skills or knowledge and you can do it in your spare time while you prepare to leave that job you hate. No Joke. You can start on a shoestring budget too.
How do I get started?
